What to Expect

The assessment journey, step by step

We know that starting the assessment process can feel daunting. Here's what the journey looks like so you know exactly what to expect.

1

Initial Forms

You'll receive some initial assessment forms. These help us understand your child so that the initial assessment can focus on what matters, for you.

2

Initial Assessment

With parents/caregivers, this is a deep dive into everything we would like to know (and everything you think we should know) about your child. Normally we do this without your child present, to save them from having to hear us talk about them, in front of them!

3

Assessment Day(s)

We prioritise unhurried time together. Depending on the assessments we decide on, your child and I will spend time together across at least two sessions.

4

Extra Information

We like to gather as much collateral evidence as possible: school reports (particularly from primary school), doctors letters, prior specialist/OT/speech pathologist reports or anything you think might help us. If you can start gathering this up and ideally email it to us, that would be great!

5

Feedback Session

After the assessments are complete we will call to book a feedback session to discuss the outcomes. During this session, we will take on your feedback, as you know your child best!

6

Report

After the feedback session, we will take on any additional information you may have added during the session, finalise the report and send it to you.

7

This Is Not the End!

It is important to us that we don't hand you a report and wish you the best. We are very happy to continue supporting you and your child, if you so wish. If you don't, that is fine too!
